Anita Mark never fails to inspire with her efforts to raise awareness about the greatest causes of poverty – and to present the best solutions for combatting that poverty. And Tuberculosis – or TB – is not only a cause of poverty, it’s one of the top ten causes of death in the world.
Yesterday was World Tuberculosis Day, and thanks to the efforts of Anita and the Results Canada volunteers, Victoria joined cities all over the world that put the spotlight on TB by lighting up landmarks in red. It is a globally recognized occasion for people to stand in solidarity with the millions of people who suffer from TB, and the millions who have lost their lives to it.
For the first time, the following landmarks were lit up in red yesterday:
• the fountain and ceremonial entrance to the Legislature,
• the Victoria City Hall clock tower clock faces, and
• the fascia of the Capital Regional District building.
